I am a licensed clinical psychologist with nearly two decades of experience providing individual, couples, and family counseling. I treat individuals across the lifespan who present with various struggles from normal life issues, stress, and relationship difficulties to more serious conditions and psychological problems. Some of the conditions and struggles I treat include:

  • Eating disorders and body image

  • Depression

  • Bipolar

  • Anxiety disorders

  • Women’s health (infertility/miscarriage/postpartum depression)

  • Relationship issues (couples, parent-child, peers)

  • Attention deficit, academic and occupational problems

  • Grief

I have worked in a number of different clinical settings, providing brief and long-term individual, couples, family, group therapy, crisis intervention, and supervision.

I grew up in New Jersey and have lived in the Bay Area since 2001 with my husband, daughter, and son. I love to travel and enjoy the outdoors, music, reading, and cooking. Like my clients, I have experienced the full range of joys and sorrows associated with life’s ups and downs, and appreciate the challenges, value, and discoveries that humanness can bring.

I am incredibly fulfilled when it comes to being a therapist. While my work can be challenging, I am always able to find the gratitude within these special moments of therapy. I still pinch myself that I get to have this role in people’s lives—that they invite me into their intimate space, perhaps a space they’ve never fully and deeply explored with a person before for fear of judgment or consequence. The trust that develops in these relationships is so moving; the connections I build; the peripheral yet deep witness I have to people’s journeys and their discoveries and transformations; to the new possibilities and perspectives—it fulfills and touches me in ways that I will be forever grateful.

I earned my doctoral and masters degrees in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) in San Francisco, and my bachelors degree in psychology from Rutgers University in New Jersey. Before leaving New Jersey to further my education in California, I primarily worked with children with autism spectrum disorder. Throughout my graduate education, I worked in a variety of practicum settings, including an outpatient day program serving the chronically mentally ill; academic settings for elementary, middle, and high school students with academic, behavioral, and emotional struggles; and community mental health settings, including outpatient and hospital settings. I completed my post-doctoral residency training at Kaiser Permanente, Department of Psychiatry, in San Rafael, and I served on the clinical staff for over ten years as a generalist with a specialization in eating disorders. I’ve had my private practice since 2011 providing individual, couples, and family therapy. I have also facilitated group therapy for Social Learning Works and Authentica Center.

My Approach

I believe in a collaborative and holistic approach to therapy and consider the unique qualities and strengths of each individual within a larger context. I take an integrative approach to my work with clients, utilizing various principles and strategies that are associated with humanistic-existential theory, narrative therapy, mindfulness-based techniques, as well as evidence-based therapy including:

I match my approach to each individual I meet and strive to maintain a warm and supportive environment, while providing therapy in a practical, direct, and compassionate manner. I am always interested in how the therapeutic process is going for my clients; therefore, I eagerly welcome feedback to ensure we are on the right track and, if not, how we can get there together.

About Therapy

Therapy, also referred to as psychotherapy, is a fantastic method of assisted self-exploration and self-reflection to support you through healing and personal growth.

Therapy is an investment in one’s self that should be taken with great pride and consideration.

Therapy can:

  • Provide a safe and non-judgmental place to discuss the most vulnerable and intimate aspects of life with someone who will compassionately guide you along the way to healing.

  • Reduce avoidance and confront personal blocks while building resiliency.

  • Transform pain into growth and healing.

  • Improve communication skills and behavioral patterns to feel more effective and fulfilled within your relationships.

  • Assist you to clarify your values and goals and take action accordingly

  • Increase your confidence and ability to get through emotions and difficult situations while reducing symptoms and unhelpful ways of coping.

Video Therapy

Video therapy is fast becoming a preferred psychotherapy format for many people. Some of the advantages of videoconference therapy include:

  • Increased privacy and comfort: no worries about being seen entering a therapy office, or running into an acquaintance in the waiting room. Feel free to be in your pajamas, your favorite place in your home, a peaceful setting outside—wherever and however you feel most comfortable.

  • Time saving: instead of traveling to your therapist’s office, you can have your session at home, at work, or even in your car.

  • More choices: with videoconference therapy, you can choose to work with therapists outside of your geographic area, thus significantly expanding your access.

  • Continue sessions while traveling or during inclement weather.

  • Simple technology: all that is required is a phone or laptop, earbuds or headphones, and a quiet, private location for your session.

Video therapy isn’t for everyone. If you are in crisis, having suicidal thoughts, or if you have been diagnosed with a serious mental illness, you should seek in-person care.

If you have questions about online therapy, please send me an email or contact me through the connect link below. If we decide to work together online, I will send you a link to download a free, secure counseling platform that we will use for our sessions. I primarily use ZOOM, which is HIPAA-compliant.
