“Between stimulus and response there is a space.

In that space is our power to choose our response.

In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”

Lifespan

I provide evidence-based treatment for various presenting problems across the lifespan, including

I take great pride in treating all ranges of age and life stage; from children, adolescents, adults, to the elderly. With my experience in both the Emergency Room and private practice, I have partnered with my clients to support their broad range of presenting problems and populations. I embrace my training and experience, and I am grateful for the numerous people with whom I have had the privilege of working. To put it simply, I treat individuals across the lifespan who present with various struggles.

Mood Management

I have extensive experience and training treating a range of depressive symptoms (i.e., from mild and situational to major and persistent episodes of depression that may involve suicidal ideation and self-harm urges and/or behaviors), bipolar disorder, and anxiety disorders (e.g., Generalized Anxiety, Social Anxiety, OCD, Panic Disorder, workplace stress).

Relationship Issues: Couples & Families

Our relationships greatly influence our psychological well-being. Whether you are lacking meaningful relationships in your life, or you are struggling with a current relationship, I thoroughly enjoy assisting clients to identify and move through areas where they may be getting “stuck.” For couples, I am helpful in teaching you ways to passionately understand and communicate your partner’s perspective—that each of you feel validated and understood—in order to move forward and live your best lives together. For couples and families, I’m devoted to addressing deep and painful emotional states that can make you feel uncomfortable, such as self-blame, guilt, shame, anger, resentment, and unforgiveness, when this becomes an obstacle to reconnecting with your most optimal self, ways of being with others, and showing up in the world. Developing some humility about the unhelpful ways all of us, at times, communicate and behave to protect ourselves from vulnerability can be a refreshing opening for positive change to occur, while finding meaning and growth in the strife and turmoil of a stressful relationship pattern.

Parenting Support

Whether you’re a new parent, have an ongoing challenge or conflict, or are overall struggling with the responsibilities and sacrifices of parenting, I will support you in renewing your energy, and finding joy in the midst of responsibility and challenges. This is important, as parenting is a massive part of your life, and not just a “phase.” I also work with teens and young adults, often having a fluid conversation with parent and adult children when helpful, and helping adult kids launch into the world of greater independence. I am helpful at facilitating parents to develop improved communication and connection with their child through emotional and behavioral support based on EFFT’s model. Parents are integral in the process of helping to heal their loved one, and it is my role to harness this powerful connection by providing specific interventions to parents/caregivers on how to facilitate symptom reduction and emotional resiliency in their loved one. I assist parents to identify and address unhelpful communication and interactional patterns between them and their child/adolescent/adult child that may be contributing to the problem or getting in the way of accessing their most optimal self in order to best support their loved one and evoke positive change. I also work with adolescents and young adults individually to help them reduce unhelpful or harmful behavior and increase their self-confidence and efficacy in coping with life to foster healthy independence, self-sufficiency, and meaning.

Eating Disorder Treatment

I specialize in the treatment of body image/acceptance, eating disorders including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, and emotional overeating among adolescents, families, and adult clients. I primarily use FBT, EFFT, and ACT approaches in my work with eating disorder recovery. I also provide care coordination with your treatment team when multiple providers are involved.
